Our business workforce support, services and expertise provide a framework to help businesses start, succeed and stay in Winneshiek County and Northeast Iowa.

Winneshiek County Development strives to achieve an available, affordable and capable workforce by partnering with Iowa Workforce Development, Northeast Iowa Community College, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, Manpower and Northeast Iowa Business Network with their career readiness and training programs.

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) commits its resources to Iowa’s prosperity by working to ensure the income security, productivity, safety, and health of all Iowans. The department strives to provide safe workplaces, a productive and economically secure workforce, provide all Iowans with access to workforce development services, and to create a model workplace.

Northeast Iowa Community College Business and Community Solutions offers affordable courses designed to provide quality training for individuals wanting to upgrade job skills, explore new careers, start a new hobby or develop new personal or professional skills. Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission (UERPC) administers the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) in Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek Counties. The agency provides employment and training opportunities for low-income individuals and other special groups. WIOA offers assistance through classroom, pre-employment and on-the-job-training. The programs offer financial incentives to businesses who participate in on-the-job training.

Manpower offers employment services that enable job seekers and employers to win in the changing world of work. Manpower offers a range of services, including permanent, temporary and temporary-to-permanent placement; employee assessment and selection; training; and consulting.

Northeast Iowa Business Network is a collective group of organizations, businesses and economic development groups working together to help existing businesses prosper in our growing entrepreneurial environment. This group offers workshops, events and information throughout the Northeast Iowa region. Alumni return to a place where work and play co-exist in harmony. Through these partnerships, WCDI is able to offer guidance to ensure the tools are available and current, education to individuals about their available resources and able to offer continuing education/training workshops for small businesses, large employers and employees to attain the necessary knowledge to retain and attract good workforce.
